  • Not getting any better

I'm getting a sty again. I feel the pain in the corner of the same left eye since this morning

And i bruised the tip of my nose last night. I squeezed it too hard in trying to rid of the white heads. Rubbing ice on the skin did not help lighten the redness.

Sties last for a few days the least. I contemplate see the GP next door, but i'm shy to face the doctor with my bruised nose tip. I feel like Rudolph's distant cousin.

I feel like sh*t once again, with pain in my eye, seeing the red bruise on my nose and feeling the tightness of my clothes around my enlarged body.

  • Weight

    Struggling with weight issues lately…

For the past 3 months, I’ve not been able to do any form of exercise. Bone fracture sucks, especially when it’s at the pelvis.

I used to be on my hoola hoop for ages, like 60 minutes continuously. It's not the normal one which children uses. It's much thicker and heavier, brought to Singapore from Taiwan.

Anyway, for the 1st time in 3 months, I used the hoola hoop again 2 days ago for like 10, 20 minutes. It was only yesterday when I wanted to go on the hoola hoop again when i realised that my hips (both sides) are bruised.

It never happened before! Not even when I first learned to use it. So, now I’m off the hoola hoop again.

I need to find other ways to tackle my thick waist and protruding tummy.

My complexion is also showing signs of disobedience. But i suspect it's response to the mass of tidbits and other unhealthy foods that i have been indulging lately.

    Renovation

In the past weeks, we've visited the Expo a few times, visited some renovation companies and liaised with some contractors/interior designers via email.

We have pretty much all kinds of contractors/interior designers to choose from:

    1. Famous, obviously price comes at a premium, but not sure about the end product.
    2. Not famous, but not cheap too. At least registered with HDB.
    3. Recommended, supposedly provides decent workmanship, probably cheaper but not registered with HDB.
    4. Undercut his employer by offering his own quotation. Cheapest, but also the most dangerous. Definitely not registered with HDB.

The price disparity, about 3k between the pricest and the cheapest.

  • Compromise compromise compromise

I'm getting very hot-headed recently over wedding matters. It gets quite bad that sometimes i feel like throwing in the towel and say, I QUIT! I start feeling light-headed.

It's my bad really and i actually know why i'm feeling/behaving this way. Before we talk, i tell myself to be gentle. But when the talk gets started, i get heated up as well.

  • Land of kangaroos

    Omg omg!!

We are going AUSSIE land for our honeymoon! I am ecstatic! That’s a result of my hardwork *hahahaha* that is, after urging the boy to decided on a honeymoon location.

Now I have something to look forward to, something to research on. Australia is a totally stranger country to me. I must put my extensive research skills to good use!

In turn, we are going to put on hold the Taiwan trip originally planned for March.

  • I’ve been lazy to update. I had lots to grumble about in the past weeks! =P

For example, squeezing up Bus 92 with students from my JC every morning. The school is just 1 bus stop away and they rather take the long flight of stairs down the overhead bridge to wait for any bus. I think it’s a waste of money and time. I used to take a leisure stroll to school from the MRT station for just 10 minutes and that’s some light exercise to start off the day. Some teenagers these days. *shake head*

Another complaint is the flower bouquet i had for my photoshoot last month. I was utterly disgusted and disappointed by the flowers given to me. To think my coordinator, Rachel reassured me that their bouquets, though artificial, are VERY beautiful.

Rachel handed me a fresh bouquet and had the cheek to tell me that this is ESPECIALLY for me. My heart cringed as i gasped in total disappointment. In the midst of the photoshoot, i asked the photographer assistant about their artificial bouquets and saw how utterly UGLY they are. They were a bunch of red roses only and looked totally used and frumpy.

The fresh bouquet i had (see below). One word - UGLY. What do you think?

    Ugly bouquet

I have yet to see the raw pictures, and i think i look better with simple makeup and hair-do. =(

Grumbles and complains aside, I got particularly pleased with myself a few hours ago. I was randomly thinking of relationship between dates and numbers, and it occurred to me that my new house’s unit number bears an auspicious meaning!

    *13-66*

Being a Cantonese-wife-to-be, I repeated the numbers in the dialect and couldn’t help but think of the phrase, ‘yat sang lok lok’. I think it sounds like translation of ‘forever happy’!

I giggled to myself uncontrollably and immediately called Mike to share with him my new discovery. I am very pleased with my unit number! =) Now I can debunk my brother for associating my unit number “13” as being unlucky.

  • What's not going well

Photoshoot is just 4 days away and i am NOT in good state at all. I hope things change for the better in days to come. I can name a few more serious ones:

    1. Skin condition. After facial yesterday, more puss-filled bits are protrouding on my face. Yucks, it's so gross.
    2. Budding eye infection. I've been down with eye infection VERY often lately. I have been feeling pain in the outer most corner of my left eye since last night. (I had a bit of sty on the inner corner of the same left eye, but thankfully it healed itself in a couple of days) Every other day i worry about pain on my eyelids. =(
    3. My diet lately comprise too much unhealthy/heaty food. Just yesterday i had nasi lemak for lunch and black pepper crabs at dinner. Very bad for the complexion..
    4. My hair is unprecedently long now as i am keeping for the photoshoot. It's become dry and quite cumbersome. Hope the 3-minute Pantene treatment will soften my mane.

  • Disappointments

Lately, there are 2 icking issues that have made me very disappointed. I fear that i don't have good solutions for these 2 problems.

    1. It is very tough to deal with a stubborn family member who wants to control my decision when dealing with my new house. So much as that there's threat to give me 'black' face on my wedding day. But i know i am going to follow my heart no matter what. The means of doing it is still unknown.

    2. It is very tough to maintain friendship when only 1 party is working to keep it alive. So they say, it takes 2 hands to clap. I wonder if i have been too nosey to show concern to my friend and hence, i expect more and get disappointed in the end.

  • Mooncake festival

It's one of the times in the year where i take waaaaaay too much sweet things.

I thought this year would be different compared to the last 2. Actually, i think this year is better because i do not feel obliged to buy mooncakes for mike's family. Neither does my mom want to receive mooncakes from mike. But she told me to get some for praying on saturday.

Coincidentally, my favourite vendor, Kia Hiang is scheduled for mooncake sales at the office canteen. I modestly bought a box of 6 piece shanghainese mooncakes. At the same time, i was tempted to buy another box of snowskin mooncakes from them. Their chocolate snow-skin ]tasted heavenly. The dark and not-so-sweet chocolate pleased my tastebuds VERY much. Moreover, i felt their blueberry cheese snowskin paled alot in comparison. Luckily, i decided to wait until next week before getting the snow-skin series. Anyway, they are coming back next Tuesday.

Unluckily, i followed my colleagues to the sales (again) after lunch. This time, i couldnt resist temptation to taste-test another few pieces of chocolate snowskin and i was sold. Fortunately, i bought only 2 small pieces, instead of the usual 6 in a box. However, the price was more expensive at $4 per piece instead of $3.5 because i bought them loosely.

I also ordered a box of flaky yam mooncakes with chestnut, for collection next week. I intend to share them with some colleagues.

In the meantime, hope brother can appreciate the chocolate snowskin as much as i did. I need to abstain from ALL mooncakes now on!

Raffles Hotel also had a store today and a colleague bought a box of appricot popping candy mooncakes to share. The smallest she could cut was about 1/6 of a big one as the sweet articles that pop made the cutting very difficult. The popping articles were wrapped in a hollow chocolate ball, something very much like a rocher. The apricot snowskin tasted pretty good, but the entire product was really too sweet for me.

I need ALOT of green tea.

  • Funny

I am extremely bewildered by the number of 'Calebs' and 'Chloes' i know in the recent 2 years or so. Seems to me that the new age parents are loving these names very, very much!

I know for sure i'm never gonna name my future son/daughter these 2 names. Bleh.
